Admissions FAQ

It is our aim at Merry International to make the Admission process as personal and comprehensible as possible. We welcome your inquiries and offer you the information about questions most commonly asked by applicant parents. Should you desire additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q. Is There a Birthday Cutoff Date for Nursery / Kindergarten Applicants?

A. Yes. The child must be three / four years old by March 31st in order to enter nursery / kindergarten. Our nursery / kindergarten classes are comprised of children who range from three to four years old to those who are turning five years old in the fall.

Q. Do You Enroll an Equal Number of Boys and Girls?

A. As a coed school that addresses gender issues, we try to enroll an equal number of girls and boys.

Q. Does Merry International Have a Wait List?

A. Yes. At the conclusion of the Admissions process, some students will be offered Wait List status. These applicants are eligible for acceptance if additional openings occur.

Q. Are Any Applicants Given Special Consideration?

A. Yes. Legacy (Alumni) applicants are given special consideration, and the percentage of Legacy (Alumni) applicants admitted to Merry International is higher than that of other applicants. We are, however, able to enroll many qualified students from both groups.

Q. Do Students Come From a Limited Number of Schools?

A. No. We receive applicants from a wide array of applicants from many locations throughout the city and neighboring suburbs and from out of state. We do not, however, have boarding facilities as we are a day school and cannot accommodate students who do not live with their families.

Q. Do You Require Letters of Recommendation?

A. Merry International does not require personal recommendations. Letters of recommendation, however, are welcome, especially from those who know the candidate and the family well. Two letters are sufficient. We ask that you request them to be sent directly to the appropriate admissions office.
